Question: How Do I Get Online PR For My eBook?
Answer: Become a “Journalist” and Sell Your Ebooks!
There are an abundance of article sites on the Internet that offer articles to the public: so that Net Surfers can type in keywords and get articles for different topics. But many ebook marketers don’t know about “faux news” sites that look like real news sites. If you go to associatedcontent.com, for example, you see the various categories listed: Arts & Entertainment, Health & Wellness, Lifestyle, Technology, and so on, with multiple articles under each heading.
Here’s the beauty of this: anyone can publish content on these sites on any topic – which gives you an instant audience for your ebook offer. For instance, I typed in “Master Cleanser Diet” in Google, and the Associated Content site came up on top, with a well-written article about how the singer Beyoncé Knowles used the Master Cleanser diet to lose weight for her movie Dreamgirls.
What I realized was that even though the article was written in a journalistic style, it actually was advertising someone’s business – the article pointed readers to a website where they could buy products related to the Master Cleanser diet (ingredients, a book with directions for the diet, stuff like that).
The key here is that the style of the article was so journalistic that you couldn’t tell it wasn’t “real” news. Using a more serious style – as opposed to the usual “marketing” type sales pitch – sends a subconscious message that this is something newsworthy. It catches the attention of people who want to know what’s in the news. Once you’ve caught their interest with the article, you include links that direct them to your website and what you have to offer – an ebook, product, whatever.
Be sure you always know your keywords so well that you can produce them on cue. Sprinkle them liberally throughout your articles. You can link particular phrases in the article to other places in the article, or to other websites, which helps your SEO (search engine optimization). This is because Google follows links, so some well-placed links in your article will get you a higher ranking in the search engines – and more clicks equals more sales!
The trick with these “news” sites is that they are looking for good writers. If your writing is up to snuff great, otherwise get a friend to ghost writer or at least edit your work. Examiner.com is another news style site that is always looking for articles: http://www.examiner.com/about_examiner/
